Johnson commits to Notre Dame girls basketball
Lake Buena Vista, FL—Congratulations to AAU Girls Basketball member Mychal Johnson on her commitment to the University of Notre Dame.
Johnson, a member of the West Virginia Thunder, will join the two-time reigning NCAA runner-up Fighting Irish next year in hopes of contributing to a national title. We caught up with Johnson to see why she chose Notre Dame. Plus, get to know the new Irish commit with a few fun facts.
On here commitment to Notre Dame:
I’m really excited. I didn’t think I’d have my mind made up this early, but I just knew that this was the place for me. I just feel so comfortable there.
Why did you choose the Fighting Irish?
It’s very family oriented and I’m a very family oriented person… When I went on my visit, I already felt close to all the players. It made me feel so comfortable.
How were the girls on the team?
It was cool to meet Skylar Diggins, especially since she’s really big on social media. I really liked Mikayla Mabry and Julie Lloyd. I stayed with them on my visit and they showed me around. They let me know what coach expects and how everything works with the classes.
How do you like Coach McGraw and the coaching staff?
She [Coach McGraw] is an amazing lady and an amazing coach. I felt like I could talk to them [the whole coaching staff] about anything, and I usually get nervous talking to people.
